The Aspiring Luddite Forum

I thought about setting up a forum for comments and such, but then I thought, "Duh - Luddite." You can use email, because, hey, "Aspiring." If you'd like it posted here, include explicit permission to do so. Extra credit will be given if the posting comes with decent html formatting and even more if it is clearly lovingly hand-crafted.

Alternatively, you could just do something over on google+, if you want, and tag it so that I see it. I'm not hard to find over there. This is working fairly well, as seen below.

Rather more long winded explanation
with added technical details

This server, as should be apparent, is not hosted on any of the consumer class hosting services for blogs or, well, anything. I tend to dislike most of them because, duh, Luddite. And also because I like to have more control over my content and copyright than they usually provide.

What they are good for, though, is making security concerns about things like comments Somebody Else's Problem. Making a forum on this server secure enough to satisfy me is, quite frankly, not worth the effort. Furthermore, even if I made the effort, someone suitably motivated could probably hack it given enough time. So, I opt to keep control over who has write access to my server as limited as possible.

So, by all means, comment over on google+, where preventing intrusions through the commenting mechanism is Not My Problem.

Explicit sermo.
